About
I’m Josh, a detail-oriented, hyper-organized, highly efficient print and digital designer with creative project management experience and a passion for brand consistency and strategic thinking.
Professional Life
I’ve gained a lot of experience in my many roles throughout the years. I’ve been an adjunct professor and subject matter expert, business owner, wedding videographer and photographer, website designer, creative project manager, and graphic designer. In my current layout designer role, I’ve been able to rely on my past experience to create and streamline processes while maintaining brand consistency across products ensuring high-quality design standards.
My main passion as a designer centers around long-form content. Reports, magazines, guidebooks, white papers… the list goes on. It’s a giant puzzle, and it’s my job to organize that content in a way that is both readable and visually appealing. Bonus points if the project will be printed — nothing beats receiving a printed publication at the end of a project. I love all aspects of these lengthier projects: the actual layout work, creating and implementing paragraph and character styles in InDesign, sourcing photos, collaborating with copy editors and other designers, and working with the printer.
Over the last few years, I’ve gained an interest in creative project management. As I’ve grown as a designer, I’ve gained more appreciation for the project planning side of things. Effective communication with cross-functional teams sets proper expectations and goals. Understanding the intricacies and thinking about the bigger picture at the beginning of projects tends to result in a more thoughtful and purposeful design. Connecting the dots and bringing order to what can sometimes be a chaotic system by creating workflows for an organization, department, or project team is very rewarding.
Personal Life
When I’m not working, you can often find me and my wife, Alex — a very talented designer, illustrator, and muralist — at our church, Riverside Church in Exeter, New Hampshire, volunteering in some capacity or getting involved in a small group growing closer to God. We’ve been volunteering since October 2022: Alex created their visual identity and continues to handle the graphics, and I built and continue to maintain the website.
Outside of church life, you can find us at home in Newmarket, New Hampshire, with our floofy cat, Willow. If we’re not rewatching “The Office” or “Parks & Rec,” we’re probably playing pickleball, out hiking or playing board games with friends. Otherwise, I’m scooting around town in search of the next best cruller and chai latte.
